The Italian Seismic Bulletin (Bollettino Sismico Italiano, BSI) is a catalog of earthquake parameters (hypocenter locations and magnitudes) of the seismicity recorded by the stations of the National Seismic Network (Rete sismica Nazionale, RSN) and from regional and international networks managed by other institutions, in Italy and surrounding regions. The BSI was born in the early 80s and is a product of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV). It is based on the work of the BSI Working Group composed by seismic analysts that manually revise both the first arrival time readings of P and S seismic phases, and the amplitudes measured on seismograms in order to compute earthquake hypocenters and magnitudes.
The BSI Working Group periodically publishes detailed information about the Italian seismicity through four-monthly reports and articles in national and international journals. The earthquake catalog provided by the BSI is available to the public and scientific community at the page “Data archive”.
